Name

The name of the organization shall be "Brazil-Russia-India-China-South Africa Study for IBD (BRICS)".

Principles and objectives

● To provide a support network for IBD specialists in Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa on clinical and basic research together with communication through online and entitative resources.

● To exchange experience and knowledge of in inflammatory bowel diseases with specialists in developed areas over the world.

● To advocate for better access to treatment options for those with inflammatory bowel disease.

● Promotion of joint research on inflammatory bowel diseases in Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa and activities deemed by the BRICS to be necessary for achieving its purpose.

● To be a not for profit organization and be able to obtain funds or in kind sponsorship to help us provide free and valuable support to users and members.

● To work alongside other like-minded persons and organizations to achieve these goals.

● BRICS IBD Consortium is a non-profit organization.

Definitions

BRICS means Brazil-Russia-India-China-South Africa Study for IBD, an organization for the development of inflammatory bowel diseases.

IBD means inflammatory bowel disease, is a group of chronic intestinal diseases characterized by inflammation of the bowel - the large or small intestine. The common types of IBD are ulcerative colitis (UC), Crohn’s disease (CD) and inflammatory bowel disease unclassified (IBDU).

President means the head of the Brazil-Russia-India-China-South Africa Study for IBD (BRICS).

Member means a natural person who is a member of the organization as defined in Members.

Governing Board means member who can vote on resolutions, i.e. excluding any operational board members.

Active means members who work to achieve the goals of BRICS.

Observer Country means any other country who will participate in the work of BRICS.

Meeting means the assembly of persons at an agreed upon meeting place.

Committee means the group of active members and persons leading by active members who work to achieve the goals of BRICS.
